yes! Did you watch ER? they used the Hawaiian version of “Somewhere over the Rainbow” when Dr. Mark Greene died and it was so touching…and I always thought they could have used this song as well!
Oh I love his voice :) takes me to a different time, different place, why can’t music be sweet like this any more?
ALL TIME FAVORITE SONG for this 50 year old!!!!!!!
A double strat,, never seen one before ,,cool
When “The Buggles” sang about video killing the radio star, this was the radio star they had in mind!
I loved that he wore a Houston Oilers jersey…. Even he believed
Now im 9
When I was 3 this song would make me cry and it still does
I love this song, but it always seemed very sad to me. I always picture a terminally ill man on his deathbed, knowing he has hours left, reminiscing about his life.
I got a fever, and the only prescription is more triangle!
It’s hard for me to sing and keep a tight line too. Maybe that’s why I like it. Personally I like rhythm playing with the lead runs into my chords.I look for things like tone and empty spaces or sudden stops. I don’t think anyone’s going to offer to build me a guitar tho!, but… I enjoy my music and that’s what it’s about to me. I’m in Melbourne Australia and if your ever down here, you’ll find a diverse bunch of people and a hot live music scene. Thanks for the comments.
Yes, you’re right about the melody line. Non-musicians have a hard time understanding how difficult it is to play a tight guitar line and sing at the same time…well, it’s hard for me!…I read somewhere that Jimmy Page had to have his double neck custom made by Gibson because they no longer made them…he saw Elvis holding one on the promo for one of those ridiculous movies that he made in the late ’50s and early ’60’s…Needless to say…Gibson was happy to oblige 🙂
This guy is a pro every song he made was badass
Yeah your right, That cracked me up a bit. Why have a double neck and not use it. Jimmy would fall out of his chair with that one. What I meant about his ability is the melody line. He keeps his constant and really, the song is built around that melody. If you miss a beat … As far as replying to Gene, I was a bit smart arse to Gene so apologies bloke, I just know how much work musicians put into their craft.
well the good old day….. I think lot of people who is over 50 like me , miss a lot..
This song brings back so many memories.
Love it!
Well, sir, if you’ve been playing for 40 years you might notice that he never moves from the upper neck (12 string) to the lower neck (6 string) during this song…so…um…what’s the purpose of having a double neck…laziness…so he doesn’t have to switch guitars for his next song? Jimmy Page would fall out of his chair laughing…
